1 min read

VICTORIAN Boardrider clubs are preparing for battle as the second stop on the Australian Boardriders Battle series heads to Phillip Island on Victoria’s Bass Coast this Sunday, October 5.

The 13th season of the acclaimed series will see the search for the country’s best boardriding clubs continue with a raft of pro, ex-pro and local battlers set to represent their club.

Nine clubs are set to compete in the event from across Victoria including reigning champs Peninsula, local club Phillip Island as well as Torquay, Jan Juc and 13th Beach all doing battle for the three spots available for Victorian teams in the Australia Boardriders Battle Grand Final presented by NRMA Insurance, to be held at Queensland’s iconic Burleigh Heads in March 2026.

Clubs will nominate a team of five of their best surfers including; 2x Open Males, 1x Open Female, 1x Over-35 Master (male or female) and 1x Under-18 junior (male or female), who will compete in an exciting and dynamic ‘tag team’ format.

President of Phillip Island Boardriders Club Jake Eisen said their competitors have been training the last few weeks, led by Walter Hiatt who has reunited the squad. "Hopefully, we can get a good result – we're aiming to do well this year – ideally top three to get us to Burleigh Heads."

The PIBC team this year includes Scarlett Rennie, Lillian Bassed, Jarrah Cicero, Angus Kennedy, Walter Hiatt (Captain), Jo van Dijk, Carl Wright, Ash Easton, and Eddie Maier.

The Australian Boardriders Battle will kick off at approximately 9am on Sunday after an 8.30am team managers meeting, with finals wrapping up by early afternoon. Live scores and schedule can be found online via www.surfingvic.com/live
