LEONGATHA Business Association (LBA) held a relaxed Christmas networking event on Tuesday evening.
“Everyone gets along so well,” Scott Cameron of Tricky Tree Works said, pleased with the variety of businesses in which LBA members are involved, including shops, hospitality venues, financial planning and tradies.
He sees broad-reaching benefits in the diverse group.
“If we get together, we can make it better for the town, business-wise and socially,” Scott said.
Daniel and Ilyssia Mochrie established Safe and Sound Locksmiths in Leongatha in January after a move from Doncaster, Daniel saying he feels it is important in a small community to help give back, that encouraging him to quickly become part of LBA.
LBA’s vice president Christie Nelson said Tuesday’s event encouraged a few people who aren’t members of the organisation to get in touch and say they would like to meet other local business operators and learn more about the Association.
Last year’s Christmas evening encouraged new members to join.
Tom Williamson of BJS Insurance Brokers joined LBA to get involved with the local community, keen to be part of the advocacy group, the business being the major sponsor of the Christmas networking event.
NAB Leongatha, Holt Constructions and South Gippsland Homes also sponsored the evening.
While Tuesday’s function was essentially an opportunity for local business operators to catch up socially, LBA has run business coaching sessions featuring guest presenters, something it is keen to continue.
Kerryn Vaughan, leadership coach and author, spoke at a dinner about building high-performing, cohesive teams and ways to interact more effectively with others.
Earlier in the year, Foster identity Tristan White delivered a breakfast presentation on business culture and tips for recruiting staff.
The LBA committee invites suggestions about the types of activities people would like to see in 2026.
