Mysterious aircraft over Phillip Island and Bass

RESIDENTS of Phillip Island reported hearing loud aircraft sounds on Wednesday evening, with two incidents briefly appearing on VicEmergency.

The first incident was around 7pm on Wednesday at Smiths Beach Road, Cowes, with a second incident, an 'aircraft crash', at Lynche Road in Bass around 8.30pm.

Whether the two incidents are connected or not is unknown. A military aircraft is believed to have been in the region at the time, but this is yet to be confirmed.

The Australian Defence Force has been contacted for comment.
