SES ‘fit for role’ program to ensure volunteer safety

1 min read

EACH role within SES requires a certain skill set and fitness requirements to ensure safety in an operational role. A spokesperson for VICSES confirmed that VICSES, in partnership with the other SES agencies from across Australia, utilise a Minimum Physical Fitness for Role program to ensure volunteers meet appropriate physical fitness levels to allow them to safely support their communities during times of emergency relevant to their role.

“VICSES values the health and wellbeing of each of its members, and initiatives such as the national Minimum Physical Fitness for Role program ensure our people return home safe and well after every training session and emergency callout.

“This nationally consistent approach is part of our commitment to maintaining the physical, medical and mental health and fitness of our members in providing a vital emergency response across Victoria.”
