Sri Lankan captain lines up for Korumburra on Saturday

ONE OF the greatest One Day International and T20 players of all time will be playing cricket at Korumburra on Saturday, October 21.

Tillakaratne Mudiyanselage Dilshan, commonly known as TM Dilshan or Dilee to his friends, will suit up for the Korumburra Cobras in a one-day game as they make their return to the A Grade Division One competition against neighbours OMK.

Dilshan will play alongside the likes of captain Rumesh Rangana, vice captain Harry McNeil and Jacob Whiteside, Jason Richards, Mitch Young, Noah Christensen, Steven Hamill, Tom Crocker and Zach Barrett.

The match starts at 1pm on the Korumburra Recreation Reserve.

In an international career spanning 17 years the former Sri Lankan all-rounder and former captain of the Sri Lanka national cricket team is often regarded as the top rated Sri Lankan player in run-chases in ODI history and one of the most innovative players of all time.

Now aged 47, he’s still no slouch, making quality appearances all round the world.

With 5492 test runs, 10,290 ODI runs and 1889 T20 runs, Dilshan is a highly talented batsman but with 106 ODI wickets, including one with his last delivery in ODI internationals, he’s a world-class right-arm off spinner as well.

He is the fourth Sri Lankan, and eleventh player overall to score 10,000 ODI runs.
