AFTER being stranded for most of the year without a local fuel supply Tarwin Lower and Venus Bay residents have applauded the imminent opening of a Caltex service station.
The previous Shell service station at Tarwin Lower closed earlier this year when the operator was locked out after an alleged dispute with the landlord.
Lisa Breen from the Tarwin District Auto and Machinery Club said the return of a petrol station to the town was a very good thing.
“We’ve been without a service station since Christmas and it’s just been a hassle.”
“It’s something every town needs and it’s inconvenient not having one.”
Caltex anticipates the Tarwin Lower service station will be operating again by October.
Local residents hope Caltex will now extend the operating hours of the service station.
“We’d appreciate longer opening hours particularly on weekends,” said Lisa.
The Caltex service station in Tarwin Lower can be found at 49 River Drive, Tarwin Lower.
The nearest service stations to Tarwin Lower are at Inverloch, Meeniyan and Fish Creek.
