VCE English exam paper well received in Leongatha

1 min read

THERE were no nasty surprises on this year’s VCE English exam paper according to the Leongatha Secondary College students Sentinel-Times chatted to as they left Mesley Hall this afternoon.

They were well prepared, with teachers credited for their part in that.

“I felt good with all the prompts; they weren’t too difficult, so feeling confident,” Remy Jans said, her other subjects being Psychology, Health and Human Development, General Maths and Chemistry, with plans to study Dentistry at La Trobe University in Bendigo next year.

Farrah van der Zalm also expressed confidence, saying there was a good amount of time to complete the exam paper and no real surprises, with teachers Mackenzie Nash and Carly O’Malley having done a thorough job helping students prepare.

Farrah has further exams in Psychology, Health and Human Development, History and Sociology, the latter her favourite subject.

She plans to take a gap year to work.

Hayley Poletti didn’t experience too many nerves ahead of the English exam due to her preparation, both in and out of class, appreciative of the guidance from teachers.

Biology, Psychology, Health and Human Development, and Foundation Maths are her other subjects, with plans to study Nursing and Midwifery in Wonthaggi through a connection with Federation University.

Gabie Wilkinson felt nervous at the start, worried about what the prompts were going to be.

“But as soon as I went in and saw that they were good prompts I felt pumped, found the groove and just kept writing, so it was all good,” she said.

In addition to English, Gabie studied Psychology, General Maths, Biology and Chemistry, Psychology being her favourite and what she plans to pursue at RMIT Bundoora next year.

While relieved the stress of exams will soon be over, she feels a little sad leaving the school after 13 years there and at the next-door Leongatha Primary School.
