Police and fire brigades act swiftly after trailer incident

1 min read

RUBY and Leongatha Fire Brigades and police ensured the safety of motorists on South Gippsland Highway between Ruby and Kardella this afternoon after establishing the driver of a vehicle towing a trailer that flipped was unhurt.

The trailer was removed by a tray truck within an hour of the incident being called in, traffic being managed in the meantime.

Police Sergeant Ryan Burns explained that the trailer went off the edge of the road while being towed towards Melbourne and hit a sign, causing the trailer to flip onto its side and slide across the highway, blocking the outbound lane.

“Luckily no one’s been hurt,” he said, saying that in good conditions and with no obstacles on the road, the incident was likely attributable to driver inattention.
