You’ll find practical information on a wide range of workshops offered throughout the year, including weed and pest control, soil health, multi-species pastures, whole farm planning, biofertiliser making, revegetation, and more.
Got a weed you can’t identify? Bring along a sample! The Landcare team will help you figure out what it is and how to manage it.
Keep an eye out for a special guest, the Giant Gippsland Earthworm, who might even have something for the kids!
Members of the Gippsland Threatened Species Action Group will also be there to share updates on local projects, including efforts to protect the Giant Gippsland Earthworm, an internationally recognised species found only in this region. These rare creatures live under cattle pastures and help maintain healthy soils.
Have you heard the earthworms on your farm? A census is currently underway to better understand their distribution, and feedback from farmers and landholders is crucial.
To make reporting easy, Landcare has developed a free Giant Gippsland Earthworm app. Just look for the cartoon worm logo in your app store (search for Giant Gippsland Earthworm).
Information collected will support future conservation efforts and help interested landholders protect this unique species on their properties.
