IT’S about as callous as it gets when it comes to opportunistic thefts, stealing a 99-year-olds mobility scooter.
But, as has been revealed in an update on the Bass Coast Police Service Area Eyewatch page on Facebook – they got her!
“About the theft of the mobility scooter which occurred sometime between 4.30pm on May 29, 2025 and 12.30pm on May 30, 2025, at a housing park in Graham Street Wonthaggi, your local police have charged a 33-year-old female from Wonthaggi with the theft.
“The 33-year-old female is currently in custody for other matters, and she will appear at the Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court on August 20, 2025.
“The scooter belonged to a 99-year-old local, who had his mobility impacted as a direct result of the theft.
“The identification of this offender was thanks to two things,” according to police.
“A local resident saw our first appeal on this page, and as a result they checked their video cameras, and saw the alleged offender with the stolen scooter, and provided the video footage to police.
“A local resident watched the video we posted on this page, and knew who it was, and contacted Crime Stoppers.
“Once again, the power of Eyewatch has made the local community safer. Well done Bass Coast and South Gippsland. We are still hoping to get the scooter back to the victim.”
