Breakers bow out after a great season

AFTER two fierce contests throughout the season both sides knew they had to come out strong from the start. It was Tyabb who had the advantage early maintaining most of the play, however great defensive pressure from Sophie McCracken-Evans and Brooke McKeon close to goal kept the score at bay.

The Breakers lifted in the second quarter with a goal to Tayla Stahl putting them right back in it. The backline continued to repel with Katie Cornish and Tess Wingfield attacking the contest hard at half back.

Tyabb once again came out firing after the main break and a couple of quick goals stretched out the lead. Molly Conroy and Lily Jack continued working hard around the stoppages, picking the ball up despite strong tackle pressure from their opposition.

The Breakers intensity ramped up in the last quarter and they were able to create more of their usual fast moving play. This created more scoring opportunities with Immy Bradford nailing a long shot on the run.

While they weren’t able to claw back the deficit the Breakers got on top around the ground and kept Tyabb goalless until the dying seconds of the quarter.

Final score: Tyabb 5.10-40 def Breakers 3.2-20
Best: Molly Conroy, Katie Cornish, Lily Jack, Imogen Bradford, Annie Dempsey
Goals: Imogen Bradford 2, Tayla Stahl

A terrific season of development and most importantly fun came to an end but has set a great foundation to build on in 2026.
