Close result for Wonthaggi Croquet

1 min read

FOUR pairs from Wonthaggi travelled to Phillip Island to compete in their Open Level Play tournament on the weekend of June 28 and 29.

John and Sue Priller won three games, Kathy Ross and Terry Nash also three with Marj Prendergast and Neil Warburton winning five games, being pipped out of the runner-up position on hoop difference by Tom Lacey and Sue Baker.

The eventual winners, with six games, were Ray Biffen (Drouin) and Claire Earl (Phillip Island).

There was great representation from the Wonthaggi club and a great day of croquet was held by all.

Another fundraiser was held at Bunnings on Sunday, July 6, with the weather being well and truly in the club’s favour.

Many snags were cooked and sold, and the day was a huge success.

Thanks to all that contributed, in particular Bert Orr, who organised, set up, cleaned up and was basically on the job all day.

Great effort Bert and everyone involved.
