U12 Girls: Korumburra v Leongatha
WITH their new recruits ready to go, the Leongatha Knights U12 Girls team headed to neighbours Korumburra to play their round nine game. It was a nail-biting game!
Leongatha’s Summer scored the first two goals of the game putting Leongatha in the lead but it wasn’t long before Korumburra’s striker Annie-Mae responded with her own two goals evening the game once more.
Leongatha’s Charlotte scored an awesome goal in her first ever game of soccer!
Maggie, another debut knight, played a fantastic game in defence, chasing down Korumburra’s wingers. Leongatha’s Katelyn put in a magnificent first half as goalkeeper, making some awesome saves.
Her teammate Jess also did a magnificent job when she jumped in goals for the second half.
Leongatha midfielder Samara made many great runs at goal but struggled to defeat Korumburra’s composed goalkeeper Harriet. However, in the second half she made a brilliant run and found the back of the net. The game concluded a draw with both teams amassing five goals each.
Perhaps the most awesome moment of the game was when Leongatha’s Katelyn noticed that the Korumburra goalkeeper needed help tying her shoes and jumped in to tie them up for her in a fantastic moment of sportsmanship. Well done players!
