PIBC final comp for the season

2 min read

THE Phillip Island Boardriders Club (PIBC) brought their 2024/25 season to a triumphant close on Saturday, May 3, with the fifth and final Aggregate event.

Held in classic Cape Woolamai conditions, Agg 5 had over 100 entrants across multiple divisions. The event highlighted the depth and passion of the local surfing scene. From the groms to the veterans, competitors put on a display that reflected not only the skill on offer but also the strong grassroots culture that defines PIBC.

The event marked the end of a packed season for PIBC which also hosted longboard and Supergroms competitions throughout the year. Behind the scenes, the club’s committee and an army of volunteers were key to the success of every event — a fact President Jake Eisen proudly acknowledged.

“What makes PIBC so special is the sense of community. Everyone pitches in, looks out for each other, and makes it happen” said Eisen. “It’s about more than surfing. It’s about belonging.”

PIBC also extended its thanks to Phillip Island Nature Parks for their valued support in permits for all PIBC comps and the Supergroms program. PIBC look forward to working together closely in the future.

Sponsors also played a pivotal role in supporting the club’s efforts this season. Local businesses provided the financial and logistical backing that allows PIBC to deliver such high-quality events for the local surfing community. The club is encouraging the public to return the favour by supporting those sponsors listed on their website: www.pibc.com.au/sponsors

Looking ahead, the club has confirmed that its End of Year Presentation Night will be held on Saturday, October 11, with further details to be announced closer to the date.

For those keen to stay connected with the club during the off-season, PIBC’s popular yoga program continues year-round, while members will no doubt be spotted chasing waves around the island until the next season kicks off.
