IT’S not over yet. The round of earthquakes, aftershocks and minor tremors continued in the hills above Leongatha on Saturday, October 17 with two quakes in the one day.
The latest one hit at 2.03pm on Saturday afternoon, a decent shake at 3.0MLa, centred at Kardella South, with local cricket matches and other summer sport in full swing.
At the East Campus Oval in Leongatha, home of the Imperials Cricket Club, there was a rumble and the walls of the clubrooms started shaking with Imps players sitting around scoring and waiting for their chance to bat.
“Yeah, they said they felt it, the walls started shaking,” said Imps’ stalwart Kristin Gray.
“We didn’t feel it over at the Town oval,” he said.
Out in the centre, Imps’ opener Tim Sauvarin was already well into his work, and together with his partner at the time (Nick Eddy or Luke Rogers), didn’t pause for the incident.
He went on to score 109 off 107 deliveries to set up a strong performance against last year’s runners-up OMK.
They day’s other tremor occurred at almost 10.36 in the morning, centred further away from the main population centres near Wild Dog Valley north of Leongatha.
A total of 251 reported feeling the 3.0MLa quake on Saturday afternoon.
