BASS Coast police is putting the call out to all locals to consider a rewarding career with the force and join their local station.
As part of a recruitment drive, police will be holding an information session on Thursday, February 10, at Wonthaggi Workmen’s Club from 6pm for anyone interested.
Police are hopeful to recruit as many locals as possible, who can give back to their community and are familiar with the region.
“We’re targeting local people from the whole of Bass Coast and are encouraging them to apply,” Acting Sergeant Callum Scott said.
“We’re looking for potential recruits from the area who will bring their knowledge of living locally.
“One of the issues we’re having is the Academy will send recruits into this division, who will work here for about two years, but because they’re not attached or live out there, they eventually leave.”
Act Sgt Scott said it was a great opportunity for those either looking for a career change or just starting out.
Victoria Police offer a number of different roles in specialist units including Highway Patrol, Crime Investigation, Uniform (general duties) and Crime Scene.
