PHILLIP Island based engineer, the amazing Mat Bowtell, wasn’t about to let a mere mechanical failure stop him from delivering his message of hope about those whose lives he has changed with his revolutionary prosthetic limbs technology.
Matt was the guest speaker at the return to the famous Kongwak Australia Day Breakfast, after three years off for COVID, and didn’t the crowds turn out in big numbers.
In fact, even after a hall full of round tables was filled with plates of bacon and eggs, orange juice and teas and coffees, there was still a line going out the door of people waiting patiently to be served.
It was a roaring success, providing time for Matt to rig up his own projector and get the sound and light show ready to address the happy crowd.
“The latest thing we are doing is providing prosthetic limbs to some of our Pacific neighbours where manchette injuries are relatively commonplace,” said Matt Bowtell ahead of an interesting address.

President of the Kongwak Hall Committee Ross Chapman was delighted with the success of the day.
“It’s a great chance for the community to get together. There are a lot of people who’ve moved to the area in recent years that we don’t know so it’s great to get everyone to come along.
“They come from all over. We’ve even got quite a few that come up from Inverloch.”
The South Gippsland Shire Council was praised for supporting the day.
