THE Wonthaggi Business and Tourism Association is encouraging local business owners to consider attending a free information evening about attracting and retaining qualified staff.
The event will be held on Wednesday, August 3, from 5:30pm – 6:30pm at the Country Universities Centre Bass Coast, 21-23 Baillieu Street, Wonthaggi.
“This event aims to highlight ways we can all work together to create positive opportunities for students in Gippsland, linking them with workplace learning opportunities during their studies,” said University Centre Manager, Andrea Evans-McCall.
“We know that students who study and gain experience locally are much more likely to stay local for their careers.
“You'll hear from industry guests, education providers, students, and graduates about the range of industry-based programs available. We'll discuss how we can grow our local talent base of skilled professionals and create a long-term solution for the region.”
The guest speaker's list includes:
Martin Fuller – CEO, West Gippsland Catchment Management Authority
Matt Cook – Director, Deery Consulting - Structural & Civil Engineers
Jane Darling Sloyan – Community and Business Development Officer, Federation University
Andrea Evans-McCall – Centre Manager, Country Universities Centre Bass Coast
