Korumburra-Bena finish strong in nail-biting finish

1 min read

IT was a great weekend for Korumburra-Bena as they beat Kilcunda-Bass in every football team on Saturday. For the thirds inaccuracy hurt Kilcunda-Bass who only managed five goals from 19 scores.

This cost them a win and possibly a spot in the finals as Korumburra-Bena steamrolled them in the final term. The first quarter had feelings of Deja vu for Korumburra-Bena with the Panthers kicking the first three goals of the game.

The last time these two met Kilcunda-Bass won by a comprehensive 123.

The second quarter was flipped on its head with Korumburra-Bena keeping the game alive kicking the only two for the quarter and went into half time with all the momentum. They couldn’t keep that though because in the third quarter it was back and forth with Kilcunda-Bass able to keep their noses in front by 18 heading into the last quarter.

Something must’ve happened in Korumburra-Bena's three-quarter time huddle because the last quarter belonged to the Giants kicking the only three goals in the quarter and getting home by a solitary point to notch their first win of the season against a quality outfit.

Coach Tyson Findlay must be very happy with the result. Returning midfielder and forward William Croatto was the star for Korumburra-Bena kicking two goals and finishing best on ground.

Codie Anderson had another amazing game dashing through the midfield with pace and the backline general Tarkyn Walker. With the most goals for Kilcunda-Bass coming from the likely source of Isaac Sinniah who finished with two because of Korumburra-Bena's impressive defense kept the liveliest forward combo Matthew Dakin and George Blum to only one goal between them.

The best on ground for the Panthers went to Trent Cartmel who played great all day. Can Korumburra-Bena back up the impressive victory over Tooradin next week?
