The family of the man who drowned at Kilcunda Beach last Friday night have launcxhed a crowdfunding appeal for this man, Sahil Panwar late of Cranbourne East, to alleviate the cost of his funeral and repatriating his remains back to his home country.

THE plight of the Indian family that had their lives shattered at Kilcunda’s treacherous surf beach last Friday night has touched many.

So much so that almost 900 people have so far donated to a GoFundMe crowdfunding page set up by his cousin Sunil Kumar, to ease some of the costs associated with the Cranbourne East man’s funeral costs and also repatriating his remains back to his home country where many of his family members still live.

“It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we reach out to you today to share the devastating news of the untimely passing of Sahil (also known as Sahil Panwar),” the family said online.

“Sahil, a vibrant young individual residing in Cranbourne East, tragically drowned at Kilcunda Beach late on Friday evening, January 12, around 8:30pm while enjoying a swim with friends.

“Sahil, married just four years ago, was living a happy life with his wife. His sudden and tragic departure has left his family shattered, not only emotionally but also facing the unexpected and substantial financial burden of repatriating his body to India.

“In this difficult time, we are launching a fundraising campaign to support his family in repatriating Sahil's remains to his home country and easing the financial strain that has descended upon them.

“Sahil was a beloved husband, son, brother, and friend, known for his infectious laughter, warm spirit, and zest for life. His absence has left a void that can never be filled, but together, we can alleviate the financial strain that has descended upon his family.

“To assist the family in covering funeral costs, memorial services, and other unforeseen expenses, we are launching a fundraising campaign. Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a meaningful impact and show his family that they are not alone during this difficult time.”
