IT’S been a while coming but the Korumburra Community Hub will finally be officially opened this Friday, November 10 at 12 noon.
Thereafter will follow a week of activities in celebration and the community is invited, indeed, urged to attend.
Much has been written about the location, the cost and which groups have been included (and excluded) but now is the time to pronounce your judgement.
The Korumburra Community Hub is a new facility incorporating the following:
• Myli Library services
• Milpara Community House services
• Korumburra and District Historical Society
• Multi-purpose meeting spaces / consulting rooms
• Kitchen facility for catering purposes
• Future provision for Council services.
The project has been funded by the significant contribution of $5 million from Victorian Governments Community Infrastructure Loan Scheme and $750,000 from the Living Libraries Infrastructure Fund.
The Korumburra Community Hub development is a component of the Korumburra Revitalisation Project (KRP) which aims to reinvigorate the town centre and meet the needs of the community through development of integrated services and the platform to attract investment.
The Hub was a South Gippsland Council advocacy priority and is identified in the Korumburra Town Centre Framework Plan adopted by Council in October 2013.
The Hub was designed by architects France-Jones Morehen Thorpe.
