Local Fire Brigade backs Korumburra parkrun
Community involvement and relationship building are brigade priorities.
KORUMBURRA Fire Brigade is hosting the town’s parkrun this Saturday, taking on all the parkrun volunteer roles.
Those who usually run the Great Southern Rail Trail parkrun encourage people to join the fun while meeting a firefighter, checking out a truck, learning more about volunteering for the CFA, or saying thanks for all the great work the local brigade does.
“For members of the Korumburra Fire Brigade, being involved in events like parkrun is a great way to give back to the community we serve,” 4th Lieutenant Sarah Davies said.
“While brigade members lead busy lives with work, family and other commitments, volunteering at events like this is an opportunity to connect with local people, promote health and wellbeing, and strengthen the community spirit that makes Korumburra such a great place to live.”
Ms Davies said the brigade is there for the local community both in times of emergency and in everyday life.
“It’s about being involved and making a positive difference wherever we can,” she explained.
“We’re proud to support our local community and encourage everyone to get involved, whether that’s running, walking or volunteering.”
For those wanting to be part of the action this Saturday October 10, meet at the shelter on the Rail Trail behind Kelly’s Bakery by 7.50am, with the run starting at 8am.
