Van Walker, Peter Foley and an evening sublime at the Archies Creek Hotel

1 min read

ARCHIES Creek Hotel empresario extraordinaire Peter Foley, hot from a successful run with the Tasmanian convict music history show, was back at the Archies Creek Hotel last Friday night.

And he brought with him one of the star acts from the Vandemonian LAGS Tour, Van Walker, himself a Tasmanian, for a one-night stand at the Creek.

And what a night it turned out to be. Absolutely sublime.

With Chelsea Stewart on back-up vocals, Morwell local Dan Musil adding a haunting dobro guitar, Mick Stylianou on bass and Garfield’s Josh Dukier with a unique double-beat drum action; it was just one of those nights…

With his gravely, perfect-pitch voice, and some deeply engaging lyrics wrapped in an accessible brand of folk, country, rock; Van Walker is one of those artists that’s worth going a long way to see.

We’re not telling his fans anything though.

And you didn’t have to go that far if you live in the Foster-Sandy Point area with Walker and his band turning out on Saturday night, June 14 at the Sandy Point Community Centre as part of a mini-tour with his new album after the Tasmanian heritage music event played at Her Majesty’s and the Melbourne Recital Hall, among other venues recently.
