ARE YOU ready to discover a place to connect and mates that make it all worthwhile?

This simple question will be answered on the last day of March, when the newly completed Men’s Shed will be open for all the community to visit.

Men of South Gippsland are invited to experience firsthand all that Men’s Sheds offer.

The ‘opening up’ project encourages local men to participate socially over a couple of hours each month in a broad range of programs, in a happy, healthy and convivial environment.

Each month, the Sentinel-Times will showcase special monthly activities being held at the Leongatha Men’s Shed.

There are ‘no strings attached’, membership is not required to participate in any of these events.

The first of these special events happens on Friday, March 31 between 10.00am and 12.30pm. The doors will be open to bring along family and see for yourselves how fortunate the Leongatha community is, in having such a great shed.

On show will be exhibits of work made by local members and video presentations of the Shed being built. These members will be on hand to chat about their future plans and activities.

Special entertainment on the day will be provided by the newly formed ‘Treble F’s singers’ and the South Gippsland Brass Band ensemble.  Guests can stay and enjoy lunch provided by the Men’s Shedders.

Men’s Sheds are accessible to all men.

The primary activity is the provision of a safe and friendly environment where men are able to talk or work on meaningful projects at their own pace, in their own time, in the company of other men.

A major objective is to advance the well-being and health of its members.

Coming together, importantly helps combat social isolation and creates new connections in caring and compassionate company.

Men’s Sheds are a place to make new mates while contributing to the community.

Come along to 9 Wild Dog Valley Road, Leongatha and find out for yourself.
