A PLEASANT Sunday afternoon was had by approximately 50 people at the Scott’s Pioneer Church grounds Mardan on Sunday, February 25.
A barbecue lunch was proudly cooked by two fellas from the Leongatha Men’s shed and the scene was set amongst the church grounds in the shade of the trees.
A picturesque backdrop was the view of rolling paddocks and the entertainment from local singers and musicians, including several from the treble Fs and some soloists on flutes and a French horn.
It was nice to hear the innocent giggling, laughter and running around of children who enjoyed the chicken dance and hokey-pokey.
The occasional witty joke from Sam Nicita set a relaxed mood.
The beautiful old church building is a remarkable venue. It is in superb condition and something the Mardan community should be proud of.
David Brereton, Mardan.
