GIPPSLAND Southern Health Service (GSHS) has reopened its primary health department in Leongatha.
The department’s doors have been closed for two years because of COVID-19 but the easing of restrictions allowed the reopening this week.
GSHS manager of allied health services Vivian Carroll said that while services had continued, reopening the doors was good news for clients.
“For the past two years, we have restricted access to the main door of the hospital to regulate the check-in process,” Ms Carroll said.
“Being able to open these doors is lovely because it makes us much more
accessible. Because we’re three-quarters down the building, it has been a long walk to get to the services you need, but now people can come straight through.”
There are check-in kiosks at both hospital and primary health entrances and reception and concierge staff can help visitors with the process.
Ms Carroll said it was timely to remind people they have to wear face marks in health care settings.
The primary health department is home to allied health services such as podiatry, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and dietetics, and community services such as social work, drug and alcohol services, palliative care.
