INVERLOCH KONGWAK welcomed Garfield down to Inverloch Recreation Reserve for a wet but still afternoon of football.
The ladder leading Sea Eagles were without a few of their stars, but celebrated the senior debut of beloved forward Dylan Taylor.
The game seemed to fall into a lull of stoppage after stoppage with neither team able to get clean possession as the drizzle set in.
IK finally broke the shackles with an excellent transition forward, which was finished off by a Clint McCaughan goal for the team’s second, giving them a 14-point lead at the first break.
The second quarter began just as the first had before Toussaint finished off a nice build up to kick his second major 10 minutes into the term.
A special moment followed, when young rebounding defender Lucas Harmer kicked his first ever senior goal with an excellent finish from deep in the forward pocket.
This gave the hosts a great surge of momentum as McCaughan kicked his second following a ruck infringement 20 metres out from goal.
Joel Batson had a terrific first half in defence for Garfield but some tremendous forward 50 pressure from the Sea Eagles led to Dylan Taylor slotting his first senior goal on debut, much to the delight of his mates on the hill behind the goals.

IK started to get some more free ball movement going, leading to a great snap finish from Jordy Tomas to extend their lead to 47-points at the main break, holding the Stars scoreless.
With a massive challenge ahead for the visitors, IK put their feet down with a Bailey Patterson banana, which found the goals from a tight angle.
Tempers flared after 10 minutes with Garfield’s frustrations boiling over, leading to a melee on the scoreboard wing.
Fortunately, the umpires were able to get the game
under control quickly and Tate Short shifted forward slotted a well-deserved goal after another terrific game across half back.
The game finished as it started with a handball chain from a stoppage, ending in a Toussaint goal to put the icing on the cake of the Sea Eagles 13th straight victory, this time keeping their opponents goalless in another defensive masterclass.
IK ran out 93-point winners and will need to carry their form into this weekend’s match, which will come at the Nar Nar Goon Recreation Reserve against the Goon.
As for the Stars, they’ll face the winless Bunyip.
