Spectacular blooms await at the 36th Annual South Gippsland Orchid Show

PREPARE to be amazed as the Wonthaggi Workmen’s Club is transformed into a floral wonderland for the South Gippsland Orchid Society’s 36th Annual Orchid Show on Friday September 11 and Saturday September 12.

This year’s show promises a magnificent feast for the senses with the much-loved community event serving as a major regional hub for passionate orchid enthusiasts across Gippsland.

“We have entries from across the Bass Coast and South Gippsland as well as members coming from Morwell, Mirboo North, Cowes, Paynesville and Port Albert,” said San Remo orchid grower Mary Morgan.

Attendees can expect a riot of colour and an abundance of breathtaking flowers to admire with highly competitive, prize-winning floral displays across multiple divisions, including specialised novice classes designed to encourage emerging local growers.

With hundreds of exceptional exhibits expected to line the benches, the competition will showcase the incredible skill and dedication of the society’s members. Among the massive variety of flowers on display, Cymbidiums will undoubtedly steal the spotlight.

Renowned for their vivid colours, sturdy nature, and long-lasting blooms, Cymbidiums remain the most popular orchid found in local home gardens. They are a universal favourite for good reason, they offer an impressive abundance of blooms while remaining relatively easy to grow for beginners.
