FRESH after last week’s bye and confident after beating Yarragon earlier in the year, we had a slow start allowing them the first two goals.
But then dominated the second half of the first quarter to go into quarter time level.
The second quarter started with Nick Anderson taking a great one-handed mark resulting in the first of his four goals for the afternoon, and it was followed shortly after with a pinpoint pass from Dylan Heylen to Scotty Pugh to give us some breathing space.
Dylan was in the thick of everything and dominating but Yarragon were able to get a few goals in junk time to end the first half even.
We had all the play in the third quarter but didn’t capitalise until Nick Anderson snapped a few more great goals and Scotty Pugh put his third through at the end of the quarter, giving us a slim lead going into the last.
The last quarter started goal for goal with Jono Hewitt getting amongst them and when Sam Dixon sent one through the big sticks with about five minutes to go it opened the flood gates and goals followed with Josh Ryan, Jack Keating and Nick Ando.
Trav Stewart bagged one right on the final siren and we ran out winners by around four goals.
Better players on the day were Dylan Heylen, Finlay Cousins, Jack Rosenow, Jordy Anderson, Trav Stewart just to name a few in a great team effort.
Well done boys and let’s finish off the season with two more wins.
Reserves:
Firstly, congratulations to ‘Shorty’ (Luke Tagliaferro) on playing his 200th senior game.
A true clubman who always gives his best.
In total contrast to their previous game the reserves came out to help celebrate Shorty’s milestone game and had winners all over the ground.
Stand outs were the ever reliable Shaun Lamb, Brad Welsh, Trent Breen (two goals), Andrew Dike, Brad Drews, Lucas Lee and Jake Prosser with four goals.
Amazing what can be achieved if all players have a red hot go.
