Two appeals this ANZAC Day

AS THE sun rose on April 25, 1915, Australian and New Zealand soldiers rowed towards the shores of Gallipoli and into history.

Every year since, Australians have gathered to remember their legacy and all those who followed in their footsteps.

Anzac Day is a time to reflect, and remember the service and sacrifices of all the men and women who have served our country and preparations are well underway for commemorations.

Meanwhile, members of our local RSL’s are out in force, selling badges and raising money for service personnel welfare.

In Wonthaggi people can purchase badges from The Caledonian Hotel, North Store Café, Bass Coast Garden Centre, Bunnings, Wonthaggi Plaza (Thursday – Saturdays), Big W (Wednesdays – Fridays) and IGA (Friday and Saturday ahead of ANZAC Day). And keep an ear out as Wonthaggi RSL’s oldest veteran Al will be joined at Big W by Malcolm on the pipes.

All monies raised by the ANZAC Day Appeal go directly to supporting veterans.

Wonthaggi RSL are also seeking assistance for their ANZAC Day breakfast and morning tea refreshments. If you are in a position to help with supplies, please contact secretarywonthaggirsl@gmail.com
