A future Coalition Government, Liberal and Nationals, say they will deliver $120,000 to the Wonthaggi Gun Club to complete the remaining competition layouts and install lighting, boosting participation in the growing sport of clay target shooting.
A FUTURE Coalition Government, Liberal and Nationals, say they will deliver $120,000 to the Wonthaggi Gun Club to complete the remaining competition layouts and install lighting, boosting participation in the growing sport of clay target shooting.
During a visit to the club at the weekend with Bass Liberal candidate Rochelle Halstead, the Shadow Minister for Outdoor Recreation, Melina Bath, MP for Eastern Victoria, said the Liberals and Nationals' investment would complete the final stage of the club's redevelopment and strengthen community participation, youth engagement and inclusion.
"The Wonthaggi Gun Club provides a safe, structured and professionally managed environment where members and visitors can enjoy the sport while promoting firearm safety, education and responsible ownership,” said Ms Bath.
"Clay target shooting is growing in popularity, our investment will enable the club to host more 'come and try' events to encourage participation and extend youth development programs.
"It is a sport enjoyed by people of all ages and one of the few where multiple generations can compete together."

Liberal candidate for Bass, Rochelle Halstead said completing the Wonthaggi Gun Club layouts would enhance the club's ability to attract regional, state and national competitions.
"Major events bring competitors and their families to the Bass region, supporting local accommodation, hospitality and retail businesses,” said Ms Halstead.
"This funding will make a significant difference to the club and support the continued growth of the sport in the Bass Coast.
"The Wonthaggi Gun Club is renowned for fostering an inclusive environment where members, newcomers, families and students can develop skills, build confidence and enjoy valuable social connections."
The Wonthaggi Gun Club has served the Bass Coast community since 1951 and has 126 members.
