Businesses rally to open boardriders season

BANG Bang Bar and Restaurant, Eisen Property and McHenry Motors have jumped started the Phillip Island Boardriders Club (PIBC) season with a generous $5000 donation directly to the club.

This generous donation helped the club kick off their first contest coming out of COVID.

On Saturday, December 11, Aggerate 1 and Super Groms were finally held after the cancellation of their previous season due to coronavirus.

Patrick O’Garey from Bang Bang Bar and Restaurant has been a member of PIBC for more than two decades and was happy to hear contests could resume and he could play a part in making the season a strong one and show support to the club that supported him through the pandemic.

The first contest had a huge turnout, with the next generation of surfers registering for Super Groms at Smiths Beach. A positive and fun vibe was had by all.

PIBC memberships also showed strength with 200 registered.

Presentation night was a great success with Santa making an appearance, a fun raffle raising over $600 and excellent speeches from all the winners.
