Under 12s take on Sale/Maffra

ON SUNDAY, February 27, the LDCA U12 boys cricket team travelled to Sale to take on the Sale/Maffra CA at the picturesque Sale College Oval.

Captain Cooper Newman won the toss via Rock, Paper, Scissors and elected to bowl.

The Sale-Maffra top order worked well together with X Hurley (22 ret), W Baden (20) and M Birss (17) with solid contributions from W Foster and J Lenehan.

For the visitors, Ty De Bono bowled beautifully returning the healthy figures of 4 overs, 3 maidens 2 wickets for one run.

Other wicket takers were Aedan Parker (1), Blake Ton (1), Harvey Sorensen (1) and Ryder Pedlow (2). Catches were taken by Cooper N (2), Aedan P, Jonah F and Blake T with run outs executed by Evan B and Cole M.

A special mention to the fielding and backing up by Cooper Newman, Cole Munday, Evan Belverdere and Tyler Mortimer with a solid performance behind the stumps by Jonah Foster.

At the end of their allotted 35 overs the home team had compiled 10/125.

It was then the LDCA’s turn at the crease which saw Ty De Bono (7), Cooper Newman (21) and Jonah Foster (8) following the team’s goal of bold running between the wickets.

Ryder Pedlow batted beautifully retiring on 16 from his maximum of 30 deliveries.

Evan Belvedere (17) and Harvey Sorensen (10) were good contributors and helped set up their team for a possible victory. Very tight bowling by Sale/Maffra denied the LDCA team of victory finishing 5 runs short of the target after the allotted 35 overs.

A very special mention to the selfless running by Aedan Parker and Cole Munday, in an effort to get their team to victory.
