MORE than 3000 people enjoyed the delights of the Loch Food and Wine Festival on Sunday.
With a record number of vendors and beautiful weather, the scene was set for an enjoyable event.
“It was an excellent day. We had a nice crowd and a great variety of food and beverages. Many of the vendors have booked again for next year, so that’s a wonderful sign,” event organiser Howard Booth said.
“We will be passing on the postcodes to (South Gippsland Shire) council, but it was good to see a lot of Melbourne folk and people from across Gippsland out enjoying the day.”
Mr Booth thanked the 30 volunteers who ensured the success of the event.
The Loch Community Development Association, Loch Memorial Reserve and the Strzelecki Lions Club were represented amongst the volunteers.
These group have given wonderful support to the Loch Food and Wine Festival for many years.
“We couldn’t do it without them,” he said.
“It’s been great to see the event continue to grow – it’s good for the region. I understand there were a lot of accommodation bookings as well, so that’s encouraging for our economy.”
Although the festival is over, Loch is still hosting council’s ArtCubes initiative.
The creative project is one more reason to visit Loch and will remain on display until the end of July.
Mr Booth thanked council for its ongoing support of the festival and the town.
