THE Inverloch-Kongwak Primary School (IKPS) has announced The Great Fete is returning on March 16, 2024, from 10-2pm at the Inverloch Primary School grounds.
After an overwhelming positive response to the inaugural event last year, the school is excited to invite both the school community and broader community to this major fundraising event.
The event is once again different and a bit smaller from the school’s well-known Easter Fair of years past. The event will not be held at Easter and will be sure to impress with local entertainment featured on The Great Stage, as well as food trucks and a fun-filled array of games and stalls running in partnership with several local community groups, businesses, and volunteers.
The IKPS Great Fete Committee is a small group of committed school parents and community volunteers who work tirelessly to better the school environment. This year funds raised will support exciting strategic plans for enhanced outdoor learning spaces.
The group is thrilled to announce receipt of a $5,000 Community Grant - Festivals, Celebrations & Events Category from the Bass Coast Shire Council (BCSC).
“The support and involvement of the Council is vital to ensuring success. The Great Fete is a way to continue to rebuild connections between the school and community and celebrate and acknowledge the various community groups that make where we live and learn so great,” says Mel Carlisle, Great Fete Committee Coordinator.

“Our goal is to create big memories and connections for the kids and community to remember for years to come,” said Mel.
With the new year, the IKPS community also welcomes new Principal, Ben Soumilas, more commonly known as ‘Soum’. Soum is a long-time local, and the school community welcomes Soum with open arms and looks forward to his experience, passion, and dedication to further deepen the connection between the school and the wider community.
“I couldn’t be more excited to see how The Great Fete brings us all together. A huge part of our mission at IKPS is to provide an engaging and inclusive environment for not only our students but our staff and parents and carers too.
“I love the idea that we can all gather to enjoy some entertainment, good food and great company in a place where everyone should feel like they belong. School events like The Great Fete help strengthen the partnership between home and school and I look forward to seeing as many people there to support the event as possible.”
