It’s all about relationships
Lisa and Daniel Parker are grateful for the vital relationship they have with Burra Foods.

FOR Daniel and Lisa Parker of Parker Farm at Shady Creek, Burra Foods has a proven track record of valuing their suppliers ensuring they are treated like family.
The farm was originally used for beef by Daniel’s parents but was eventually converted to dairy.

For Lisa, who transitioned from a professional career back to farming, she feels incredibly lucky to be in the industry.
“I don’t know why I didn’t start off in farming to be honest!”
she said.

“It’s just one of those things that’s in your blood.

“When you have days like this, you can look over your farm and property and realise how amazing and lucky it is to have this little pocket of the world that’s all yours.”
The Parkers described their relationship with Burra Foods as like a family.

“You go to their Christmas functions and they’re inclusive, the milk supply officers care and ring you straight back,” Lisa said.

“They’re not necessarily about being on a ‘world stage’.

“They look after their suppliers because without them, it’s just a heap of stainless steel in an empty factory.

“And they’re local, they employ local people.”

They also highlighted there’s many suppliers that have been with Burra Foods for most of their working career, which is always a great sign.
