Newhaven College explore a new world through stories

THE theme for Book Week 2025 is ‘Book an Adventure’, encouraging children to explore new worlds through stories. Newhaven College acknowledges the vital role reading plays in a child’s growth – strengthening learning, sparking imagination and opening minds to new and exciting possibilities. 

Students from Junior and Middle Schools brought the theme to life in the annual Book Week parade, cheered on by teachers, parents, guardians and younger siblings. The Middle and Junior School Captains did an amazing job managing the proceedings. The parade was filled with colour and creativity, with costumes that captured the spirit of favourite books and characters.

Newhaven College Preps had a ball at their first Book Week parade, all coming dressed as their favourite book characters.
Newhaven College Junior School Captains Venus Herath Mudiyanselage, Nate Kondarios, Peyton Rhee and Dallas Latham hosted the parade with confidence and style.
Prep student Olive Goessens’ fish costume stole the show, with her two preschool siblings also coming along in smaller fish costumes.

Book Week provides an opportunity to cultivate a lifelong love of reading, allowing students to express their creativity and connect with literature in a fun and memorable way.
