Korumburra gives its all for Good Friday appeal

Korumburra's generosity was evident, as it is every Good Friday, auctioneers Jimmy Kyle and Josh Chiavaroli giving their time to sell an array of items donated by community members and local businesses to help the Royal Children’s Hospital provide the best care possible.
Bidders paid impressive prices, signed footy jumpers among the popular items, especially a Hawthorn one that fetched $450.
The auction started with a footy theme as a couple of Korumburra Bena family memberships were snapped up by separate bidders.
Agricultural services, a wide variety of hampers, overnight stays and even chicken pellets and lucerne hay for horses all sold.
Jimmy pointed out there should be plenty of interest in a tattoo voucher up for grabs that ultimately made $310.
“There’s a lot of ink getting about here today; who needs a bit more?”
Josh regularly reminded bidders that whatever the cost, everything was good value and for a worthy cause.
“It’s only your pride on the line,” he told one bidder, encouraging them to offer a little more for a signed Bombers jumper that made $350.
Korumburra Business Association president Jack Gilchrist was again one of the most generous bidders, even thrusting his hand up when he wasn’t sure what the item was, the cause more important.
While he was pleased to discover one of his purchases included a bottle of alcohol, he balanced things out health wise by snapping up a box of fruit.
Popular local identity Tommy Brown maintained his tireless fundraising efforts, wandering the hotel premises and encouraging people to buy raffle tickets, his meat raffles having already raised valuable funds in the lead up to Good Friday.
