THE instability of the power grid on Phillip Island, especially at one of the extremities in Cowes, was called into question again on Monday night this week, October 13, just as international motorcycle teams started arriving for the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix.
The power went out at about 9.15pm, reportedly to 851 electricity customers, with Ausnet reporting the estimated arrival time of a repair crew at 10.45pm.
However, while the Ausnet Outage Tracker showed an outage map covering all of central Cowes, from Silverleaves in the east to Justice Road in the west, the lights were on down the southern end of Thompson Avenue from the Berninneit Cultural Centre south.
There were no reports of any accidents on the Vic Emergency app that might explain the power failure.
Ausnet is yet published the cause.
