THE Leongatha Red Cross Unit held a morning tea on Tuesday, March 12 at the Woorayl Golf Club.

Nearly 50 people attended a cuppa, scones and cakes, with an amazing $1100 being raised to support vulnerable people in our community.

Our special guest speakers were Sandy Ridge followed by Wendy Caple.

Sandy spoke about her involvement with Red Cross spanning over 60 years. Her involvement as Secretary, then Chairperson of this Red Cross Zone and recently as Divisional Board Member for Victoria i.e.. reviewing issues, regions and recruitment (including volunteers), community liaisons and communication within organisations

Sandy brought a lot of experience to her presentation and also sadly shared how her home and surrounds were affected during the recent storms at The Gurdies.

Wendy, a member of the locals Red Cross Emergency Services, spoke about how Red Cross is supporting both Mirboo North and the Grantville area during the aftermath of the storms.

We’d like to thank these people for sharing their knowledge and experiences.

The morning raised $1100 for vulnerable people in our community.

If you wish to know more about our local Red Cross Unit and what we do, please contact Lois on 0428 686 273 or Cathy on 0427 196 095.
