TRAFFIC was crawling along Phillip Island bridge today after contractors carrying out structural inspections caused damage to a light pole overnight.
The Department of Transport and Planning implemented traffic management on the San Remo/Phillip Island bridge while the light pole was repaired with traffic limited to one lane.
Works to repair the light pole have since been completed and all lanes have reopened on the bridge.
“A lane closure was in place on the Phillip Island Bridge while crews carried out repairs to a damaged light pole," a spokesperson for the Department of Transport and Planning said.
“All lanes are now open and we thank the community for their patience and apologise for any inconvenience.”
The works were not associated with Westernport Waters San Remo Bridge Pipeline Bracket Renewal Project.
