THE Victorian Micro Groms Cup, presented by Surf Better Now, has wrapped up on the Surf Coast in wild surf that saw the future of Victorian surfing on show.

Over 60 of the next generation of surfing talent competed in the 5,500 rated event held at Torquay Point, that saw Victory at Sea conditions on Saturday before slightly improving conditions on Sunday for finals.

In the Under 14 Girls final, it was local Stevie O’Day (Torquay) who was the stand out across the event. O’Day was dominant in the final with a near perfect wave score of 9.33 (out of a possible 10), finishing on a heat total of 16.66 points.

“It was really fun out there,” said O’Day. “There were heaps of closeout sections to hit, I had such a good time.”

O’Day took out fellow Surf Coast surfer and 2024 champion Estella Carbonelli (Jan Juc), who finished in second on 14.50 points.

Scarlett Rennie (Phillip Island) finished in third on 12.70 points with Sophie Day (Rye) in fourth on 10.50 points.

Surfing in his first nationally ranked junior event, Levi Vosloo (Barwon Heads) took to the challenging conditions with ease, locking in an excellent heat total of 16.66 (out of a possible 20) in the Under 14 Boys final.

“The waves got way better this afternoon for the final”, said Vosloo. “I just tried to go big on every wave!”

Finishing in second was 2024 champion Teddy Robertson (Torquay), who finished on a 12.20 heat total. Harry Cleary (Sorrento) finished in third on 11.00 points with Eden Hawken (Torquay) on 10.30 points.
