LEONGATHA Imperials opener Luke Rogers has led his side to a narrow win over Inverloch with a sublime century in the first innings.
Rogers opened the batting and he was seeing them beautifully straight away, getting their score past 100 while the other batters couldn’t quite get going.
Sumudu Sameera 23 hung around with Rogers for a while and as Rogers brought up his century the Imps drew closer to 200.
Rogers was eventually caught on 114 off 80 balls and the Imps finished all out on 209.
Jacob Strickland 29, Walter Taberner 53, Jack Butcher 26, Josh Williams 20 and Eli Cousins 20 all had a good crack at chasing Leongatha’s big total, but they ultimately couldn’t score quickly enough, and they finished on 8/202 after 40 overs.

Town turn it on against Club

LEONGATHA Town will head into finals with a big confidence boost, beating Wonthaggi Club by five wickets at Scorpion Park.

Club batted first and after a shaky start, Ryan Thomas 38, Mitch Thomas 42, Koby Brann 30 and captain James Sheerin 21 helped them reach 4/140 with a few overs remaining.

But Town’s bowlers got back on top, namely Amila Ratnaike and Darcy Hume, and they bowled out Club for 166 with the third last ball of the innings.

Ratnaike finished with 4/28 off eight overs and Hume had 4/21 off 7.4 overs.

Once again, Sahan Perera 86 was on fire to start Town’s innings and his score combined with Pandukabhaya Jayasinghe’s 47 saw them get past Club in the 34th over with five wickets in hand.

Wonthaggi win to wrap up finals spot

WONTHAGGI Club made sure they’d have the chance to compete for the A2 flag, by beating Nyora at Nyora on Saturday.
Club batted first and after an early wicket fell, it was Luke Sibley 26 and Mitch Davey 30 who got the momentum going their way.

Jack Sheerin then arrived at the crease, and he blasted his way to 76 to really put them into a formidable position.

Rohan Todd 32 and Stewart Beaumont 34 then added some nice scores bringing their total to a massive 8/233 after 40 overs.

Nyora knew they’d be up against it, but Daniel Esler 31, Gavin Hackett 21, Jake Hackett 32, Lochie Row 27, and Ryan White 20 all had good cracks at chasing their total.

In the end, Wonthaggi’s bowlers did enough to halt any possible Nyora comeback and they finished at 7/179 after 40 overs.

Crocker’s incredible knock gets Cobras big win

KORUMBURRA’S Tom Crocker has put on an unbeaten century against OMK to lead his side to a massive total which resulted in a 119-run win.

Crocker opened the batting alongside Danny Lloyd 21, and once he was gone Rumesh Rangana arrived at the crease ready to make runs fast.

The two were in incredible form in the middle and their 201-run partnership was over when Rangana was agonisingly bowled on 99.

Crocker kept going, making Korumburra reach 2/281 after 40 overs.

After an early wicket Justin Greenwood 28, James Paterson 31, and Sam Matthews 24 somewhat recovered OMK’s innings, but wickets kept falling and they finished at 8/162 after 40 overs.
