LOCAL community radio 3mFM has been on air on the FM band for over 35 years and is now changing its name to South Coast FM.

Originally broadcasting on 106.3 Mhz the first test programs were broadcast on March 4, 1984, so that residents of South Gippsland could hear the great mix of local news, information and music entertainment and the station has been broadcasting ever since.

The station has been a cost-effective way for local businesses to get their products and services on air and has supported hundreds of companies to get their messages out.

Community groups and clubs can join and get free promotion on air all year round.

The new name is ‘South' from South Gippsland and the 'Coast' from Bass Coast with the new logo showing the green hills and blue waves of the area.

Listeners can hear the station from well outside those local government areas and so from South Gippsland to the Bass Coast and beyond is an appropriate tagline.

Listeners can hear a huge variety of programs on the station. Each day starts early with country music and then the very popular Breakfast Club shows with different presenters each day.

Daytime shows are a great mix of local news, information, and music with a heavy bias to Australian tunes. After hours and weekends, listeners can hear music genre experts present shows from Jazz, Blues, Musicals, Rock, and Country as well as decades from the 50's to now – the team know their music and love sharing their knowledge with listeners.

South Coast FM broadcasts 24/7 on 88.1 with special services to Foster and Yarram on 89.5 and Phillip Island and San Remo on 89.1 Mhz. The station streams online on its website www.SouthCoastFM.au on several other services and via the free Community Radio Plus 'phone app.
