Grand Final results

SECTION 1: Inverloch 33 games defeated Westernport 19 games.

Inverloch have retained the Section 1 Premiership for at least 10 years running. The last two sets weren’t played because there was already a result. Inverloch have played as a team for a lot of years which makes it hard for teams to find a way through. Westernport did take the Krohn boys to 7-5 but weren’t able to win the set. Well done to Suzie Jacobs and Carol Slade for winning one set.

Section 2: Outtrim 54 games defeated Leongatha 39 games.

While this is only two in a row for Outtrim, they certainly have had a number of premiership wins over the years. It was a good match, with Outtrim not having everything their own way with a couple of sets going to Leongatha. Susan Clark and daughter Nicole de Longville don’t lose many sets together, but this time they did.

The Presentation Night followed the Grand Final at The Middle Hotel in Korumburra. A social night enjoyed by all who attended. Trophies were awarded to the winners and runners-up, with raffle prizes and the highly coveted ‘Most Games Won’ award.

Both sections were close, especially the ladies’ side of the competition, with just a couple of games separating the top few players. The winners this year were:

• Section 1 Ladies: Michelle Krohn

• Section 1 Men: Matt Pocklington

• Section 2 Ladies: Nicole de Longville

• Section 2 Men: Sean Fraser

Time for all to enjoy the winter break. Junior and more team’s welcome for the continuation of the association.
