Bass Coast Shire Wonthaggi Residents fight for justice escalates

A MASS rally will be held at 3pm this Sunday with leader of the opposition John Pesutto, accompanied by the Shadow Minister for Planning in attendance at North View Drive Public Park Wonthaggi.  

Save North Wonthaggi Residents Group (SNWR) are urging all Bass Coast Shire residents and rate payers to attend to pressure the State Government to overturn the Environmental Audit Overlay (EAO) that has been placed on the growing North East Wonthaggi residential corridor.

The decision of the Environmental Protection Authority announced by the Bass Coast Shire Council on Thursday afternoon that they will not overturn or amend the overlay order has implications for every resident, rate payer, shop owner, restaurant/café, tradesmen and future residents of not only Wonthaggi but the entire Shire.

SNWR are seeking to place pressure on the State Government to overturn the EPA decision.

The group states that residents’ personal and financial futures are at risk through no fault of their own and the flow on effect will be felt by every business that Wonthaggi residents use; and it is vital that as many people as possible become aware of the extent of the crisis which has adversely impacted so many local property owners and residents.

John Pesutto is ready to take up the cause which is not just for residents – it’s for every Bass Coast Shire ratepayer to stand up and get this overlay overturned.
