Biketoberfest set to rev up Leongatha
Members of the Biketoberfest organising subcommittee Cherie and Graham Pritchett are looking forward to Saturday’s event.

There’ll be a stirring rumble in Leongatha this Saturday October 14 as the second edition of Biketoberfest hits town.

Trials riding adds to the entertainment this year, with a couple of riders testing their skills over a range of obstacles such as cars and pallets.

That action takes place in the Woolworths carpark, beginning at 10am.

As was the case last year, classic motorcycles take centre stage at Leongatha Memorial Hall, with entry being by gold coin donation and all funds going to the Black Dog Ride which strives for positive mental health outcomes.

Motorcyclists attending can put their bikes on display in Bair and Lyon Streets.

Stallholders will again set up in Michael Place, offering a mixture of motorbike-related merchandise and fun for the kids such as face painting and airbrush tattoos.

Melbourne rock band the ‘Dirty Rats’, the members of which ride motorbikes, will play, while DJ ‘Melbourne Record Club’ will also provide music from a Vespa parked near McCartin’s Hotel.

Biketoberfest starts at 9am, running until 3pm, with volunteers from the Leongatha Business Association (LBA) and Ulysses Club pitching in to make the event a success.

A six-member subcommittee organises Biketoberfest, with its founders Cherie and Graham Pritchett and Roz and Steve Busana joined by Marianne Jones and John Burke.

Cherie said Biketoberfest has been far easier to get together the second time around, with many of those involved last time getting in touch and expressing enthusiasm to return.

“We had really good feedback from last year,” she said.

Such is Biketoberfest’s appeal, a group of 50-plus riders is ready to roar into Leongatha all the way from Wodonga, a journey of over 400 kilometres.
