GIPPSLAND Grammar is about to embark on a regional trip thanking families whose children board, or have boarded at the school, welcome others to the school community and answer questions of anyone thinking boarding could be the solution for their child successfully completing their secondary schooling.
The Gippsland Grammar Boarding Roadshow will travel to Mallacoota, Orbost, Bairnsdale, Latrobe Valley, Yarram, Inverloch, Warragul and even Phillip Island over four days from July 21-26.
Head of Boarding Stuart Llewellyn will be on hand to discuss your child’s education and help you discover more about the wonderful boarding program offered at Gippsland Grammar.
“We are the only Boarding School east of Melbourne’s suburban fringe. We are a home-away-from-home for students from far East Gippsland, South Gippsland, Victoria’s High Country, and the Latrobe Valley and Melbourne,” Mr Llewellyn explained.
Boarding at Gippsland Grammar is the perfect environment for students to flourish and achieve their goals.
With easy access to specialised tutors and community and co-curricular activities, our boarding house is in a supportive and safe ‘home away from home’ for all boarders whether it is in a fulltime capacity, parttime or even casual.
Located just across the picturesque sports ovals of the Garnsey Senior Campus, Blackwood House Boarding facility boasts large common spaces, study rooms, outdoor courtyards as well as twin ensuite rooms in two separate wings.
A private chef caters for the students’ meals and a dedicated bus is available to ensure students get to all their community after-school, or even before-school, activities.
Yoga with an accredited instructor is a regular and valued part of the students’ wellbeing regime.
Boarding captain Jess McLindin, lives in the seaside town of Metung, and has been a border for the last three years.
“I began boarding at the beginning of term 3 in Year 10,” Jess said.
“Blackwood House has a daily time schedule for homework, recreation, sports, sleep, technology and mealtimes. This has made me become punctual and disciplined. As a boarding student, I have had to take care of my own washing and cleaning which has increased my independence and organisational skills and certainly has me better prepared for university life next year.”
