TARWIN Lower will roar into life over the final weekend of October with cars, motorcycles, tractor demonstrations, trucks and stationary engines, and even an army tank on show.
Saturday is dedicated entirely to tractors, with an old hay baler also demonstrated, while everything else features at Sunday’s family fun day, during which tractor demonstrations also take place.
As well as an array of vehicles and other mechanical exhibits, there are plenty of free children’s activities including riding on a Clydesdale-drawn cart, a merry-go-round, and face painting, with free lollies also on offer.
Sunday admission is free for those aged under 16 years.
The Tarwin District Auto and Machinery Club and the Venus Bay, Tarwin Lower District Men’s Shed are jointly hosting the event.
Early Harley Davidsons will be among the motorcycle highlights, with Studebaker, vintage Mercedes and a frequent prize-winning 1957 Ford Fairlane among the impressive cars.
While most vehicles will be immaculately polished and are used to being stored in a protective environment, local identity ‘Tommy’ will proudly exhibit his 1952 Morris Minor in its natural state.
“It just sits outside and it looks like an old heap that everyone can remember, and since he’s owned it I don’t reckon it’s ever seen a bucket of water,” Auto Club and Men’s Shed member Tom Ohia said.
Stationary engines on display will include steam driven examples.
Emergency services are part of the Sunday showcase, with the CFA, SES and Ambulance Victoria planning displays.

A market is also part of the Sunday fun.
A wide selection of food and drink is available.
The festival is supported by the Bald Hills Windfarm, the Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal, the Gardiner Foundation, and South Gippsland Shire Council.
