Champions of workers’ rights and safety

I LIVE in Mirboo North in South Gippsland and I’m a delegate and a long-term member of the Community and Public Sector Union (CPSU).

I don’t condone the actions of the leadership of the Victorian branch of CFMEU and support actions taken against the leadership of the Victorian branch. But I wanted to show my support for my fellow union delegates and members within the Victorian branch of the CFMEU.

I have no doubt that the vast majority of delegates in the CFMEU, as all the delegates I have ever worked with, only ever act in the interests of the members, and never receive any personal gain and never want any personal gain. We volunteer our time to be delegates and I’m proud to be a union delegate and member.

It is easy to bash unions but remember many of the things, workers in Australia take for granted, were fought and obtained by unions. When you are enjoying your weekend, or living off your superannuation in retirement, remember who got the weekend and superannuation for all workers, Unions.

If you are a member of a union, be proud to say you are a member as I do. Unions are not your enemy; we are your friends, and we want the best for workers and to keep them safe.
